Nine Orlando Theme Park Money-Saving Hacks
Top money-saving tips!
We know that family holidays can tug at the purse strings but these money-saving Orlando hacks will help boost the budget...

1. Book your theme park tickets in advance

Walt Disney World tickets

Booking your Orlando theme park passes before you travel can save you so much money on the gate prices. With our service, you can reserve your tickets with a small deposit and you have up to a month before you fly to pay the final amount. Plus, with time to plan your holiday in advance you can spread the cost over a longer period of time, making the budget for your family trip to Orlando far more manageable. Advance tickets also work out great value because some tickets include bonus extras, such as our 14-Day Disney’s Ultimate Ticket, which gives you 14 days for the price of seven and includes Disney’s Memory Maker.

2. Book a bundle

Multi-attraction passes can save you big bucks by purchasing one ticket for all your favourite parks. Attraction Tickets Direct’s exclusive Orlando Freedom Ticket Ultimate covers all six Walt Disney World theme parks and water parks, Universal Studios Orlando’s three parks, Sea World, Busch Gardens, Aquatica and Legoland and comes with a bonus add-on. Click here to see our current special offers. Or, if you’re really keen on sticking to one park group, and would love the chance to swim with dolphins, the Discovery Cove Ultimate Package includes a dolphin interaction at Discovery Cove and 14-days unlimited access to SeaWorld and Aquatica. In addition to this, all food and drink is all-inclusive at Discovery Cove so you wont have to spend extra cash on keeping your group fed and watered for the day.

3. Take advantage of the Disney Free Dining and Drinks offer

Up until November 5th, the amazing Free Disney Dining and Drinks deal is available on resort packages at Walt Disney World. This can save you a huge amount of cash when you are visiting the Disney parks and staying at a Walt Disney World Resort Hotel. If you’ve never heard about the Free Disney Dine plan before, this video explains how it works and where you can make big savings for your trip.

Stay on-resort

Staying on-site at a theme park hotel can actually save you cash. Guests at both the Walt Disney World and Universal Orlando Resorts can make use of free park transportation to get to and from the hotel and between the theme parks. Walt Disney World guests also enjoy free parking at all the Walt Disney World theme parks. This can often be a saving of £25 per day!

Opt for a room with a kitchenette

Believe it or not, this is a top Orlando money-saving hack! If you’ve never been to Florida before, you might not know that food portions can be huge! Even better, taking your leftovers home in a box is almost expected in the USA, so you’ll often find yourself with lots of extra food that is equally delicious the day after for lunch. Having your own kitchen with a fridge means you can store your extra food and keep it fresh. Having a fridge and a microwave is also really handy for families travelling with young kids or babies. The ability to store and warm up milk and baby food can save you lots of time and is much more convenient than having to find a café or restaurant to do it for you. And, of course, with or without kids in tow, having a fridge to keep your shop-bought wine cool (instead of buying it chilled at the hotel shop) is guaranteed to save you a few dollars!

Pack your refillable water bottle

This one is kind to your wallet and the environment! As well as the importance of keeping hydrated in the Florida sun, the cost of bottled drinks can add up over a two-week period and you will save a lot of money with a refillable bottle. Why not get everyone in the family a personalized water bottle before you go as a holiday treat?

Opt for ticket insurance

Once you have purchased your Orlando theme park tickets in advance, we post them directly to you so they’ll be ready and waiting before you go to the airport. This is so convenient as it means that once in Orlando you can head straight to the theme park turnstiles with your tickets and get on with having the best holiday ever, without the need to line up in the sun to get in. But, sadly, even on your holiday of a lifetime, things could go wrong and if you end up losing your tickets or dropping them in the shark pool at SeaWorld, guests with our FLEX OR FLEX-PLUS insurance are fully covered for replacement tickets, which you can collect directly from the resorts in Orlando. Find out more on our post about the surprising times you might need ticket insurance here.

Check out some of the fun attractions outside the theme parks

No one loves the theme parks as much as we do, but if you end up wanting a break for your brain, your legs or your wallet, there are lots of other attractions in Orlando to enjoy during your trip. From Go-Kart racing to Ferris wheels and animal parks like Gatorland, find out more in our video all about the non-theme park fun you can have in Orlando.

Cool off at the waterparks

Our 14-day tickets for Walt Disney World and Universal Orlando Resort actually include 14-days unlimited access to all of their theme parks. This, of course, includes the epic water parks. These splash-tastic parks are a great way to relax and cool off in the Florida heat. Generally, a day at Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard Beach, SeaWorld’s Aquatica or Universal Orlando’s Volcano Bay will generate less spending money than at the regular parks, so they are a great way to break up all the rollercoaster action and chill out. The water parks all offer dining packages too, so if you go for one of those you can lay back and sunbathe while the family eat, drink and water slide to their heart’s content.
