ATD's Guide to Using Memory Maker

The most important part of any holiday to Walt Disney Resort in Florida is the amazing time you have and the magical memories that you make. Of course, the best way to remember these is with some epic photos!

Forget blurry holiday snaps with someone’s thumb covering the lens and no one looking at the camera. The good news is you can get incredible professional photos of the whole family at Walt Disney World Resort in Florida with Memory Maker. The even better news is that Memory Maker is included with Disney Magic Tickets bought at AttractionTickets.com.

Here’s our complete guide to Memory Maker to capture those unforgettable moments of your Orlando holiday so you can relive them time and time again. Just say cheese!

What is the difference between Disney Memory Maker and Disney PhotoPass Service?

Disney PhotoPass Service and Memory Maker are both part of the Walt Disney World Resort photo offering, but they’re not quite the same thing (although they are closely related).

It’s impossible to explain Memory Maker without first talking about Disney PhotoPass Service. Disney PhotoPass Service is the complimentary photo service that’s provided in the Disney Parks. Disney PhotoPass Service photographers can be found throughout the parks, ready to grab group shots of you and your family in front of some of the most famous Disney landmarks.

Disney PhotoPass Service covers these group shots, plus ride photos and photos of Disney Character meet and greets. From an iconic group shot in front of Cinderella Castle to capturing your scream faces on your favourite thrill rides, Disney PhotoPass Service captures all of these magical moments.

The taking of photographs is free, but if you want to download or keep any of the photos, then there’s an additional cost. This is where Memory Maker comes in – it’s an additional package where you can view and download all your photos.

How Disney PhotoPass Service works - summary

  • A PhotoPass photographer takes your picture at designated places throughout the parks
  • The photographer will scan your MagicBand or physical ticket to link the photo to your My Disney Experience account
  • View the photos
  • You can download or print the photos for an additional cost (unless you have Memory Maker)

What is Disney Memory Maker?

Memory Maker is an unlimited package of photos which includes all the photos you have taken during your trip to Walt Disney World Resort. You can access the images and download them to use online or print them out.

Mums and dads, we know you’ve got hundreds of photos of the kids, but how many do you have of the whole family together? There’s no need to step out of the photo to take it – you can get pictures of the whole family taken by a professional photographer for you to keep.

Fancy a new Facebook profile pic or some Insta-worthy shots to make your friends jealous of your trip? Memory Maker has got you covered! You don’t have to worry about your phone battery running out or the dreaded “no storage” notification.

Sammie from the AttractionTickets.com sales team has visited Walt Disney World Resort 33 times and loves Memory Maker:

“We would never be able to get such high-quality pictures without the Disney PhotoPass Service photographers. We have printed our favourites out to frame and put them on the wall so we can relive our magical memories every day!”

Is it worth it to get Disney Memory Maker?

We often get asked this question, and the answer is that it really depends. If you’re considering buying more than a couple of the official photos during your trip, then Memory Maker is definitely worth it.

Booking a professional photographer could cost hundreds, if not thousands, of pounds so Memory Maker is already a great deal. When you add to that the fact that it’s included with your Disney Magic Tickets, then it’s an absolute no-brainer – you’ve got nothing to lose!

It’s a huge added value and will definitely add happiness to your holiday!

What is included in Disney Memory Maker?

Disney Memory Maker includes all of your photos taken by the Disney PhotoPass Service photographers.

Memory Maker includes:

  • Photos taken at over 100 locations
  • Unlimited digital downloads of all Disney PhotoPass photos and videos
  • Selected ride and attraction photos
  • Select Disney Character dining photos
  • Discounts on prints of photos
  • Magic Shots – funny surprises like Disney Characters and backgrounds added to your photos
  • Digital graphics to personalise your photos

How much is the Memory Maker package at Disney?

If you purchase the Memory Maker package directly from the parks, it can cost up to $210. However, if you buy a Disney 7-Day or 14-Day Magic Ticket from AttractionTickets.com, then Memory Maker is included at no extra cost.

How to get the most out of the Memory Maker package

Here are some of our top tips for getting the most out of your Memory Maker package.

When you land in Orlando

  • Set up your My Disney Experience account
  • Get the other people you’re travelling with to do the same

Once you’ve arrived in Orlando, it’s definitely worth setting up a My Disney Experience account, so you don’t need to worry about doing it later. We’ve got some helpful guidance on how to set up your My Disney Experience account here.

Encourage your family and friends that are travelling with you to set up their own accounts as well. You can download photos from up to 25 members of your Family & Friends on My Disney Experience.

Just remember to give each other access to your photos. There’s an option to choose which plans and photos each person can see, and you’ll just need to tick the check box reading “My Disney PhotoPass Photos.”

This means that all of your photos will be available in one central location – perfect for larger groups or families that are likely to split up and spend some of the day apart.

On My Disney Experience, you can also book Lightning Lane and make restaurant reservations 30 days in advance, or up to 60 days if you’re staying in a Disney Resort Hotel.

Once your Disney Magic Tickets have been linked to your My Disney Experience account, Memory Maker is ready for you to use during the time your ticket is valid.

Where to find the photo stops

During your time in the parks, you can log into the My Disney Experience app to see where the Disney PhotoPass stops are near you. Just go to the map and select PhotoPass.

There are over 100 locations for photographs throughout the four Disney Parks, although the spots can change during the day. You’ll recognise the Disney PhotoPass Cast Members as they’ll be wearing blue shorts or trousers, a white shirt, and a khaki gilet. As an extra clue, they’ll be the ones carrying a large camera!

Here are some of our favourite photo stops:

Don’t forget to get some Magic Shots

As well as ride photos, Disney Character meet and greet shots, and the classic photo shots, you can also get some Magic Shots. These photos are digitally enhanced to add different effects such as Disney Characters and backgrounds.

When you pose for these photos, you might be asked to pretend that something is there when it isn’t, but trust the process – these photos are a lot of fun! Magic Shots are themed around the area where the picture is taken.

For example, you might get Tinkerbell added to your photo with Cinderella Castle or Prince Naveen as a frog from The Princess and the Frog perching on your hand and puckering up for a kiss.

Not every PhotoPass photographer has the equipment to take these humorous pictures, but you can find out where the locations are on the Disney PhotoPass Facebook page.

Keep an eye out for Tiny World Magic Shots, too. These use a 360-degree camera to get photos of your group with the park surrounding you. You’ll get a quirky capture and a unique perspective of the theme park.

How to view your Memory Maker photos

After you’ve struck a pose for a Disney PhotoPass photographer, they’ll scan your MagicBand, park ticket, or a Disney PhotoPass card which is linked to your My Disney Experience account. All your pictures will appear in the photo gallery here. Remember to turn on the location settings on the app, and many of your ride photos will automatically appear.

Click on the first photo you want to view, and you’ll be asked to activate your Memory Maker. You’ll then be able to download the images without the watermark.

You can have a look at them during your trip or wait until you’re back home to review them properly and choose your faves. Get the whole family together for an Orlando-themed night where you can relive those precious memories – and have a giggle at your ride faces!

You’ll have 45 days from the date the photos are taken to purchase or download them, so remember to save them to your device so you can keep them forever.
