Donald Duck's debut film was The Wise Little Hen, a short film released on the 9th June 1934 as part of Walt Disney's Silly Symphonies cartoon. The film is based on classic Russian fairy tale The ittle Red Hen.
How Donald Duck Got his Name
Donald Duck's full name is actually Donald Fauntleroy Duck. Walt Disney took inspiration for the duck's name from Australian cricket player Donald Bradman. In 1932 Donald Bradman was dismissed from an Australia V England game at The Oval for a very famous duck. This happened just around the time that Walt Disney was creating a friend for Mickey Mouse, hence how Mickey's feathered pal received the name Donald Duck.

Daisy Duck is Donald's current and long term girlfriend, who made her debut film appearance in the 1940 film Mr. Duck Steps Out. Daisy is Donald's female counterpart that most will be familiar with. However, she is not the only love interest that Donald Duck has had in his Disney history. In the 1937, short film Don Donald you will see that Donald Duck's original love interest was actually Donna Duck. In this short film Donna breaks off her romance with Donald, making him available for the much loved Daisy Duck.
