Over a year ago it was announced that changes would be coming to the Disney Genie+ Service at Walt Disney World Resort in Florida, and these have now come into effect!
From July 24th 2024, the Disney Genie+ Service is now known as Lightning Lane Multi Pass, while Individual Lightning Lanes are called Lightning Lane Single Pass. And as of October 30th 2024, a BRAND NEW pass called Lightning Lane Premier Pass will also be available in limited quantities for guests staying at select Disney Resort hotels. Here’s a full summary of everything included with the purchase of each pass:
Lightning Lane Single Pass*
- Guests can make up to two selections per day, choosing from some of the most in demand attractions including AVATAR Flight of Passage, and Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind
- Lightning Lane Single Pass selections can only be made for a given experience once per day. This means your selections have to be for two different attractions
- When you book your Lightning Lane Single Passes you will be able to select a specific time to experience each attraction, subject to availability
- If your admission includes Park Hopper access (which our Disney Magic Tickets do) you can make your Lightning Lane Single Passes for attractions across two different Theme Parks
Lightning Lane Multi Pass*
- Guests can book a Lightning Lane for select attractions during a specified return window once per experience, per day
- Up to three of these Lightning Lane experiences can be pre-planned in advance at the time of purchase
- Experiences at Magic Kingdom Park, EPCOT, and Disney’s Hollywood Studios are divided into two groups; guests can pre-plan up to one experience from Group 1 and the remaining experiences from Group 2
- Once a selection has been redeemed on the day, a new one can be booked from any group (subject to availability)
- If you have Park Hopper access, you can select experiences from any of the four Theme Parks after your first selection of the day has been redeemed
Lightning Lane Premier Pass*
- Guests will get one-time entry to each available Lightning Lane experience in a park for one day, including all the most in-demand attractions
- Return times don't need to be booked in advance - ride the attractions you want, when you want
- Each Lightning Lane Premier Pass will only be available for one chosen park, even if your ticket includes Park Hopper access
Yes, you read that right, the name isn’t the only thing that has changed! You can now purchase your Lightning Lane Passes, and make some of your attraction selections ahead of your Walt Disney World Resort visit.

Lightning Lane Premier Pass can also be purchased up to seven days prior to your check-in date for any day during your stay (up to 14 days). Standby queues are of course still available for all guests, included with admission. Certain attractions may also use Virtual Queues, also included with admission, which are available to book on a first come first serve basis on the My Disney Experience app at either 7am or 2pm EST.
UPDATE - Lightning Lane Multi Pass, Single Pass, and Premier Pass can all now be purchased in the UK, which means you can start planning your attraction selections as early as possible, before you even arrive in Orlando!
The complimentary Disney Genie Service will still be available on the My Disney Experience app for all guests, to help you plan your days in the parks based on your interests and to-the-minute wait times.
The name change from Disney Genie+ and Individual Lightning Lanes to Lightning Lane Multi Pass and Lightning Lane Single Pass have also come into effect at Disneyland Resort in California, however the way that you book your Lightning Lanes here remains the same.
