The Universal Orlando Resort is famous for having some of the most exhilarating roller coasters and thrilling attractions in the world, but that’s not all. If you’re visiting with younger children who are too small for the big coasters, don’t worry, there’s still plenty for you to enjoy. We’ve put together a list of some of the most family-friendly rides at the Universal theme parks, to help you plan your trip…
1. Despicable Me Minion Mayhem
No matter what your age, it’s hard to resist the charm of the mischievous Minions. Little ones will absolutely love this wacky 3D adventure, where you race through Gru’s laboratory discovering his latest scheme. There’s plenty of twists, turns and laughs along the way, but one of the highlights has to be the fun-filled dance party finale! You better brush up on your best dance moves, because the Minions really know how to party.

2. Flight of the Hippogriff
The Harry Potter rides are by far some of the most popular attractions at the Universal theme parks, and if you’re Harry Potter fans (who isn’t?) these should definitely be at the top of your list. If your children are older and have seen all the movies, then we’d definitely recommend trying all three Harry Potter attractions, but if you’re visiting with little ones, Flight of the Hippogriff is the best option. There’s nothing too scary on the other rides, but there are surprise appearances from Aragog- the king of the spiders and Lord Voldemort too!
Flight of the Hippogriff is loads of fun and will send you racing around the pumpkin patch on the back of a majestic Hippogriff. Look out for Hagrid’s Hut while you’re there!

3. The Simpsons Ride
The Simpsons Ride is something that the whole family can enjoy together. You’ll join the famous Simpson family as they enjoy a day of theme park fun at Krustyland. Although, it’s not long before Sideshow Bob turns up, determined to demolish the ride! State-of-the-art technology is used to immerse you into the story and make you feel as though you really are speeding around the roller coaster track. Look out for wrecking balls, evil pandas and rushing waterfalls to name just a few. There’s water, smoke, smells and much more on this incredible ride. You’ll have to see it for yourself to believe it!

If you’re visiting with some aspiring superheroes, make sure you check out the Amazing Adventures of Spider-Man ride. The vivid graphics and special effects are incredible, with this ride offering an unforgettable 3D and 4D experience! Put on your 3D glasses and join forces with your friendly neighbourhood Spider-Man, in a battle against the villains of the Sinister Syndicate. Prepare to face the elements, as there’s wind, smoke, water and even a 400-foot-freefall!

5. Hogwarts Express
If you’ve ever dreamed of riding the famous Hogwarts Express, you’ll be in your element on this fantastic attraction. While we can’t promise that you’ll be walking through the doors of Hogwarts at the end of your journey, we can promise an unforgettable experience. If you have a Universal Explorer Ticket, you’ll be able to use the Hogwarts Express to take you between the two Universal theme parks. We’d recommend taking the journey both ways, as the experience is totally different. You’ll get to sit inside the carriages just like your favourite characters, and there will be lots of familiar faces to look out for too.
6. Shrek 4D
This mini movie gives Shrek fans the chance to see the mysterious events that occurred in between the first and second Shrek movies. This is the story you didn’t get to see on screen! While you may have thought that Lord Farquaad was gone, you’ll soon discover that he’s back (in ghost form!) and he’s out for revenge. He’s kidnapped Princess Fiona and once again, it’s down to Shrek and his loveable sidekick Donkey, to save the day.
You’ll need to put on some special OgreVision glasses to be part of the action. This isn’t just any movie, this amazing multisensory attraction lets you see, hear and feel everything that’s going on around you, putting you right in the middle of the gripping story!
