As the nights get longer, Scarefest beckons. On October’s spookiest dates, tiptoe into Alton Towers Resort for all sorts of creepy surprises as the award-winning Scarefest returns for 2024 (11th October - 3rd November); be prepared for spooktacular fun and thrills and brave your favourite rides in the dark! The Resort’s spectacular Fireworks (8th - 10th November) are dazzling enough to make your jaw drop and your eyes pop, watch our iconic, historic Towers brought to spectacular life with amazing effects and surprises! Alton Towers Resort is located in Staffordshire between the M1 and the M6 and is well-signposted from both motorways.
Season and Opening Hours
Alton Towers Theme Park opens for the 2024 season on 16 March 24 and will be open daily until 10th November 2024. Alton Towers opens at 10.00 am with closing times varying throughout the year.
Alton Towers Resort WaterPark is open all year round (outdoor area closed on selected dates) from 10.00 am with closing times varying throughout the year.

Wicker Man
Minimum Height Required: 1.2m
Join the chosen ones on the world’s most immersive rollercoaster experience to date, unifying cutting edge special effects with classic wooden coaster technology for the first time! Wicker Man is the UK’s first new wooden coaster built in over 20 years, a globally unique experience that will reconnect riders with the primal essence of rollercoasters.
The Smiler
Minimum Height Required: 1.4m
The Smiler is the world's first 14 loop rollercoaster. Its twisting track combines the world beating 14 loops with a speed of 85km/hr and a track length longer than Oblivion! This will challenge your body and mind.
The Alton Towers Dungeons*
Minimum Height Required: Not recommended for those aged 10 and under.
The Alton Towers Dungeon, a hilariously hideous journey through Staffordshire’s darkest history. You’ll be screaming with laughter whilst you encounter the most frightfully peculiar characters from the past. Take the stand to be sentenced by the dis-honourable Justice of the Peace, the Bishop of Stafford, before being condemned to a traitor’s boat ride down the Black River into the chambers of the Dungeon. Miss it and you’ll be GUTTED!

Gangsta Granny: The Ride
Minimum Height Required: 0.9m (Children under 1.1m must be accompanied by an adult)
Climb into your royal carriage as Granny and Ben enlist your help to pull off the greatest jewel heist in history! Take a spin through the sewers on a 360° special effects-laden wild ride to break into the crown jewels vault! Can you grab the jewels and make an explosive escape? Careful, if the Feds catch you, you’ll be in a right royal mess! Can you pull off the greatest Jewel heist in history?
Oblivion
Minimum Height Required: 1.4 m
Congo River Rapids
Minimum Height Required: 0.9m (Children under 1.1m must be accompanied by an adult)
This splash-tastic water adventure is ideal for all ages. Start by drifting gently along the Katanga Canyon then get ready for some stonkingly drenchy surprises as you start spinning along, bumping round corners and whirling through waterfalls. Staying dry is not an option!
Runaway Mine Train
Minimum Height Required: 0.9m (Children under 1.1m must be accompanied by an adult)
Deep underground, through the tunnels and around the turns of Katanga Canyon, the old mine train twists and shifts, getting faster and faster after an explosion caused it to break loose. Will it slow down? Can it stop? Nobody knows – so get ready for a knuckle-clenching escapade that’s ideal for all ages.
The Blade
