Walt Disney World
We begin at Disney World Resort, the famous complex which is always high on the itinerary of family holidays in Orlando. With four theme parks, two water parks and four golf courses, just some of the features of the 27,000+ acre resort, it’s no wonder millions purchase Walt Disney World Tickets. In terms of souvenirs, perhaps the most famous collectable is a set of Mickey Mouse Ears, meaning that children and adults alike can become the park’s most famous character in an instant. They come in all shapes and sizes, plus a variety of styles considering the amount of themed attractions found across the park. Their iconic status makes them a must-purchase for any visitor!
Another classic souvenir is the animation cell, an obvious choice considering Disney’s longstanding relationship with animated cinema. Head to the Animation Station, which – through the help of a Disney artist – offers a hands-on opportunity to draw your very own animation sketch to take home. If you would rather purchase a professionally-produced cell, they are available from the majority of gift shops across the resort. Either way, a superb souvenir!
Universal Studios
The place to get behind the scenes of some of the biggest films in history, Universal Studios has been one of the most famous theme parks in the city since first opening its gates in 1990. With rides dedicated to the likes of Men in Black, Spiderman and Jurassic Park, the list of souvenirs available for your favourite films is almost endless!
If you have youngsters in your party, a visit to the gift shop outside the Despicable Me Minion Mayhem ride is guaranteed to keep them busy. Here you will find every type of gift imaginable, from minion t-shirts and hats to cuddly minion toys themselves. The most popular souvenirs can be found at the Wizarding World of Harry Potter and most recently in Diagon Alley, among those being a Butterbeer souvenir mug. As well as the mug, fans of the boy wizard can purchase everything from Harry Potter robes and brooms to pinbadges and stationary! Expecto to be impressed.
Wonderworks
While it may be one of the lesser-known attractions in the city, Wonderworks remains one of Orlando’s most popular family days out and its exhibits are dedicated to space, physics and maths – any budding astronauts in your family? When we spoke to Wonderworks, they said that among the best souvenirs is the Survival Challenge. Purchase at the start of your experience for just £6 and get a souvenir pen, an at home science experiment and even a map of the attraction. It gives a space to record personal scores from the many exhibits you enjoy along the way and is a great way of remembering your trip.
SeaWorld
The place to the see the giants of the ocean up close, SeaWorld offers plenty of souvenirs to the millions of people who visit every year. Despite the recent installations of rides such as ‘Antarctica: Empire of the Penguin’ and ‘Turtle Trek’ for purchasers of Orlando theme park tickets, Shamu still rules as king of the attractions if the number of souvenirs taken home are anything to go by. The Shamu soft toy remains the most sought-after item in gift shops all over the park. To find toys of all sizes, as well as wearable merchandise, visit the Simply Shamu shop.
