After closing in January for refurbishment, the Disney magic is almost complete, and it has been revealed that the newly named 'Soarin' Around the World' attraction will reopen at Epcot on 17th June 2016 with some exciting updates!
Experience an incredible adventure with the world at your feet; literally! As you soar above some of the most famous landmarks in the world, take in the awe-inspiring views of your surroundings. You’ll feel as though you’re actually there, with the authentic backdrops and beautiful landscapes.
If you’re not familiar with this ride, the hang-gliding adventure takes you on a journey across the world, taking you past renowned natural and man-made wonders, for the opportunity to virtually explore them. You’ll be able to discover the world in fine detail without even having to move. Glide over The Sydney Harbour Bridge, The Great Wall of China, The Golden Gate Bridge and The Eiffel Tower to name just a few!
You’ll be elevated 40-feet into the air and immersed into a new world as the journey begins. State-of-the-art technology is used within the 180-degree, 80-foot projection dome, alongside aerially captured hang glider footage to bring the experience to life and create a realistic flying experience.
Visitors will be shown a bird’s-eye view of famous attractions across the globe with a new film presentation, that will offer stunning panoramic views. The addition of a third theatre will create 50% more capacity, enabling more people to ride the attraction at once, and hopefully reduce queuing time. The queue area has also received a new makeover, with fun interactive features available to keep you entertained. Using infrared technology, you’ll be able to take part in 5 different games on digital projection screens using your body! Take charge of a hot air balloon, move mountains, and prepare for a race all before you even board the ride.
The technology has been given an amazing update, and will now be more advanced, with HD resolution giving the best possible picture. The latest update aims to enhance the existing multi-sensory experience, with the addition of new sights, sounds and smells! The previous version of the ride included citrus scents that were popular with riders, and with the promise of some new subtle smells, we wonder what will be on offer this time, when the ride reopens.
