How many teams are there in the NBA?

The NBA consists of a total of 30 teams. These teams are divided into two “conferences”, which in turn are categorized into 3 “divisions”.

Western Conference (15 Teams):

- Northwest Division: Denver Nuggets, Minnesota Timberwolves, Oklahoma City Thunder, Portland Trail Blazers, Utah Jazz

- Pacific Division: Golden State Warriors, Los Angeles Clippers, Los Angeles Lakers, Phoenix Suns, Sacramento Kings

- Southwest Division: Dallas Mavericks, Houston Rockets, Memphis Grizzlies, New Orleans Pelicans, San Antonio Spurs

Eastern Conference (15 Teams):

- Atlantic Division: Boston Celtics, Brooklyn Nets, New York Knicks, Philadelphia 76ers, Toronto Raptors

- Central Division: Chicago Bulls, Cleveland Cavaliers, Detroit Pistons, Indiana Pacers, Milwaukee Bucks

- Southeast Division: Atlanta Hawks, Charlotte Hornets, Miami Heat, Orlando Magic, Washington Wizards

When was the NBA founded?

The National Basketball Association was founded on 6th June 1946 at the Commodore Hotel in New York. The NBA at the time consisted of 11 teams and the first president of the NBA was Maurice Podoloff. 

How many games are there in an NBA season?

A regular NBA season has 82 games.

When does the NBA season 15/16 start and end?

The NBA regular season begins October 27th and ends April 13th.

When is the NBA All-Star Game?

The NBA All-Star Game is the highlight of the NBA, in which the best players from the Western and Eastern Conferences compete against each other. In 2016, the All-Star Game took place on February 14th in Toronto, Canada, making it the first game held outside of the United States.

Who are the best players in NBA history?

The NBA list of “All-Time Legends” grows with each new generation. Arguably the best players include Michael Jordan, Bill Russell, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Wilt Chamberlain, Magic Johnson, Larry Bird, Oscar Robertson, John Havlicek, Rick Barry, John Stockton, Karl Malone, Elgin Baylor, David Robinson, Julius Erving and Charles Barkley. Dirk Nowitzki was also recently added to this list!

Which team has the most NBA titles?

The Boston Celtics have won the most seasons with 17 titles, closely followed by the Los Angeles Lakers with 16 titles.

Which player scored the most points?

Kareem Abdul-Jabbar is the best player with 38,387 points. Karl Malone is second best with 36,928 points and Kobe Bryant is third with 32,482 points.

Michael Jordan leads the list with 30.12 points per game.
