Disney-inspired baby names bring a touch of magic, with some rising stars and a few classics fading away in 2025
Choosing a baby name is one of, if not the most magical time of your life. For many parents, Disney Characters are a treasure trove of inspiration, bringing to life names that are timeless, adventurous and full of charm.

Almost all parents today grew up watching at least one Disney movie, often developing a special connection to favourite characters from childhood. This nostalgic appeal is part of what makes Disney names so appealing.

At AttractionTickets.com, we wanted to explore which Disney-inspired names have been able to withstand the test of time, and which have fallen gracefully out of fashion.

Methodology

To conduct this investigation, we created a foolproof methodology. We began with the Office of National Statistics’ list of the Top 100 names for baby girls and boys in England and Wales throughout 2022, picking out the Disney-inspired names within the list and taking note of their position.

We then compared this to the two most recent rankings of baby name rankings  collected by BabyCentre, named the Top 100 Baby Names for 2023 and 2024. Once again, we identified the Disney-inspired names and added them onto the results spreadsheet.

We calculated the changes in each name’s position, highlighting those with a notable increase or decrease. Names that had decreased significantly were seen as potentially on a path to extinction, while those with a strong upward trajectory were predicted to continue gaining popularity into 2025.

The Most Popular Disney-Inspired Girls Names for 2025

1. Aurora

This beautiful name first appeared in Disney’s 1959 classic Sleeping Beauty . It’s no surprise that Aurora, the kind hearted enchanted princess character with a beautiful name has remained a fan favourite. The name has also appeared in spin off movies including Maleficent, released in 2014, keeping it well in the spotlight. We tracked that the name comfortably sat in 49th place back in 2022, but has since risen to 12th place in 2024. According to our calculations, we expect this name to maintain its position in 2025.

2. Charlotte

The name Charlotte is a timeless classic, once extremely popular in England and has managed to maintain its charm over the centuries. In Disney’s The Princess and the Frog, Charlotte La Bouff is the lovable best friend of Tiana, known for her charisma, charm and kind heart. Recently, however, the name has experienced a surge in popularity, rising in the rankings from 26th place in 2022 to a projected 5th place in 2025.

3. Daisy

Daisy Duck is an iconic figure within the Disney parks, known for her confident, charming and loyal personality. This has helped elevate the name from 99th in 2023 to 81st in 2024. Experts predict it will continue to rise, as its connection to Disney’s classic Mickey Mouse universe, combined with its playful vibe makes it an increasingly popular option for parents.

4. Riley

Inside Out 2 was recently released and experienced immense popularity. The main character, Riley, has captured the hearts of audiences as she grows up and experiences new emotions. This deep connection with the spirited, strong young girl learning to navigate the world has contributed to her rising popularity. Riley has dramatically increased in popularity in recent years, climbing to 38th place in 2024, and experts predict this will continue to rise in 2025, fueled by the movie’s release this year.

5. Violet

The Incredibles is a beloved classic PIXAR movie, and Violet, the eldest daughter, has seen a significant rise in popularity, moving from 43rd place in 2022 to 16th in 2024. It is projected to maintain this ranking in 2025, thanks in part to its strong Disney connection. Additionally, floral-inspired names have evidently been trending recently, however the recent D23 2024 event announcement of The Incredibles 3 may see this name increasing in popularity even more.

The Most Popular Disney-Inspired Boys Names for 2025

  1. Christopher

Christopher is a name that has long been considered traditional and has not been too popular in recent years. However, unexpectedly it has recently burst onto the scene making its way to 81st place on the top 100 baby names list in 2024, despite not even being featured in 2022. This upward trend is likely to continue in 2025 and maybe thanks to the beloved Christopher Robin from Winnie the Pooh, considered to be the ultimate friend.

  1. Hudson

Doc Hudson from Cars is the lovable mentor of Lightning McQueen and is nicknamed the Hudson Hornet. The name has accelerated in popularity recently, from 43rd place to a projected position of 14th in 2025! With its blend of modern appeal, adventurous spirit and charm, this name has become popular with parents nowadays who are looking for an adorable, not too traditional name.

The Disney-Inspired Girls Names Going Extinct

  1. Isabelle/Belle

Isabelle and Belle have seen immense popularity throughout the years, being recognised as a classic name. However, despite Belle, the lovable, kind hearted Disney Princess from Beauty and the Beast remaining an iconic character, Isabelle and Belle have fallen out of favour. We predict these names will most likely disappear entirely off the list by 2025. Isabelle was spotted in 43rd place in 2022, but hasn’t been featured in the data since. This decline might be due to the online popular parenting trend of naming children unique, modern names rather than opting for traditional ones.

  1. Jasmine

Aladdin’s popularity is undeniable, from the hit original movie, to the hugely successful live action in 2019 as well as the stage shows. Unfortunately, we cannot say the same for the name Jasmine, which has seen a steady drop, going from 94th in 2022 to not being mentioned on the 2024 list. The name’s unique appeal seems to have faded since the initial popularity after the movie’s release, signalling a generational shift in name preferences.

The Disney-Inspired Boys Names Going Extinct

  1. Arlo

Arlo is an adorable name choice based on the lovable main character from the hit movie, Disney’s The Good Dinosaur, released in 2015. Arlo’s short lived popularity was evident through the dramatic drop from 18th place in 2022 to not being included in the 2024 list.

  1. Arthur

Arthur is another traditional name which was incorporated into a Disney movie, featuring in Disney’s The Sword in the Stone. Though associated with an incredibly noble character, Arthur has experienced the most dramatic fall from grace in recent years, once at 6th place in 2022, now nowhere to be found on the top 100 list. Its drop may be due to a growing preference for contemporary names, as well as shifts away from older historical references.

  1. Elliot

The common name Elliot was used for the main protagonist in Pete’s Dragon, however, Elliot’s magical charm no longer captivates parents in the modern day. It is another name which has unfortunately slipped off the list, from 83rd in 2022 to not being featured in more recent years. Once again, we believe this is due to the growing popularity amongst parents of using unique, never seen before names.

  1. Finn

Finn is an incredible character featured in Star Wars’ recent trilogy. Sadly, since the recent saga has concluded, audiences have forgotten the name Finn, and its popularity has tapered off. Sitting in 82nd in 2022, the beloved character’s name no longer appears in the top 100 list for 2024, and we don’t predict its return for 2025.
