ATD's guide to the highlights you can't miss on the Las Vegas Monorail route...

Anyone who’s ever visited Las Vegas will tell you that The Strip is an extraordinary place. They might also tell you though that it can take a long time to travel from one end to the other. This could end up costing you a lot in taxi money, which would be much better spent in the casinos! The solution to travelling cheaply around Las Vegas is simple - 24-hour access to the Las Vegas monorail, which takes you along the strip at speeds of up to 50 miles per hour, stopping at all the most important places along the way. Check out our guide on what to see at each stop below…

1) The MGM Grand

CSI: The Experience Las Vegas

If you’re doing Las Vegas in style and staying at the incredible MGM Grand Las Vegas hotel (which boasts five outdoor pools, rivers and its own waterfall!), the Las Vegas monorail is the perfect way to navigate the long distances of The Strip. Even if you’re staying elsewhere, you may want to visit the MGM Grand’s on-site casino, which has one of the largest gaming floors in the whole of Las Vegas and featured in the film Ocean’s Eleven. If you thought ahead and bought a Las Vegas Explorer Pass, you’ll definitely want to pay the MGM Grand a visit and test your mettle on the CSI: The Experience attraction, which is an exhilarating and brain-busting experience which you can access for free with your Explorer Pass. The Pass also includes a 2-day monorail ticket, so you don’t need to purchase both, although to get the best value you may wish to save one of your attractions for something else!

2) Bally’s Las Vegas/Paris Las Vegas

Again, if you have the Las Vegas Explorer Pass you will want to pay the Paris a visit to try out the Eiffel Tower Experience (from April 2016). Though it might seem a little strange to pay a visit to the Eiffel Tower in Las Vegas, the tower is one of the most iconic landmarks of Vegas and is a perfect half scale replica of the world-famous icon, making it well worth a visit. Enjoy 360◦ panoramic views over unbelievable Las Vegas from the top of the tower or extend your visit and eat in the Eiffel Tower Restaurant at the very top. Other great attractions you can enjoy at the hotels or in the vicinity include the famous Jubilee! Show, Vegas! The Show, Zombie Burlesque, and Planet Hollywood, many of which are included on the Explorer Pass.

3) Flamingo/Caesars Palace

Celine Dion

Caesars palace is one of the most iconic hotels in Las Vegas and has long been one of the most lavish and decadent establishments in an already outlandish city. Caesar’s Palace’s huge casino is a big draw to the hotel, as well as the dozens of high quality food establishments and drinking lounges. Fans of Celine Dion will be pleased to hear that you can buy tickets to see the legend herself at Caesars Palace throughout 2016 and 2017 on more than 70 dates each year.

4) Harrah’s Las Vegas/The LINQ Hotel

LINQ wheel Las Vegas

The biggest draw to the LINQ Hotel Las Vegas is the World’s Tallest Observation Wheel, which is a 550ft high Ferris wheel located on the LINQ Promenade. The Explorer Pass includes a free daytime ride on the wheel, which offers spectacular views over Las Vegas and normally costs $24.95 so it’s well worth checking it out. You can also alight here for Madame Tussauds (included on the Explorer Pass) and The Auto Collections, the world’s largest classic car showroom, which has more than 250 antique, classic, muscle and historically significant cars on display and for sale.

5) Westgate Las Vegas

Trent Carlini

Elvis fans will love the Westgate Hotel, which is where the star spent much of his time when he was in Las Vegas and even performed 58 consecutive sold-out shows there in 1969. Today, Elvis fans can get their fix watching Trent Carlini, Las Vegas’s foremost Elvis impersonator, belt out all The King’s best-known popular hits.

Purchase the Las Vegas Monorail pass and visit all these Vegas highlights for one low price. The Las Vegas Explorer pass, which can help you save up to 55% on your Las Vegas attractions can also be purchased separately.
