If you visited a Halloween Horror Nights event last year, you would have been spooked by well-known characters from films such as Insidious, The Purge and Freddy vs Jason as well as some of the horrifying ‘walkers’ from the hit TV show The Walking Dead. This year though, there’s something totally new to add to the grisly line-up: Leatherface from Tobe Hooper’s The Texas Chainsaw Massacre is hitting up Universal Orlando and, the bad news is, he’s bringing his trusty chainsaw.
The film focuses on the tragic tale of a group of 5 hitchhikers who stumble upon the home of a family of horrifying cannibals in the depths of Texas after their car runs out of fuel. As they approach the quiet house, they disturb the murderous residents within and the psychological nature of the thriller kicks in. When the film was originally released, it was deemed so terrifying and violent that it was banned in several countries (which obviously caused a surge in horror fans who wanted to see it for themselves!)
Leatherface will be prowling an all-new haunted maze attraction where the team at Universal aim to bring to life the horror of this 1974 classic. The blood-curdling sound of the chainsaw roaring into life will haunt the air around Universal Studios as desperate guests flee to escape the murderous grips of the ruthless psychopath. Will you be one of the lucky ones?
Halloween Horror Nights is on select nights this year from September 16th to October 31st and promises to thrill and scare the absolute wits out of you – if that’s your idea of fun of course!
