Windsor Castle

Steeped in history, Windsor Castle perches proudly on a lush wooded hill overlooking the Thames. Dating back to Norman times, with sweeping landscaped gardens and a turreted Round Tower, it’s easy to see why it’s the King’s favorite weekend residence. Enjoy a fascinating through–the–keyhole peek at the lavish State Apartments, home to priceless artworks by Rembrandt and Leonardo da Vinci, and visit St. George’s Chapel, the atmospheric final resting place of former monarchs including Henry VIII. You can visit Queen Mary’s Dolls’ House, a truly incredible structure complete with working lifts, running water, electricity, and wine bottles, all in miniature! This tour is unescorted and you will spend approximately 2 hours in Windsor Castle.

The tour ends at Gloucester Road Underground Station is in Zone 1 and is three stops Eastbound on the Circle Line or the District Line to Victoria. The Piccadilly Line also runs through Gloucester Road, and is only 5 stops to Piccadilly Circus.

As Windsor Castle is a working royal palace, sometimes the entire Castle or the State Apartments within the Castle need to be closed at short notice.

St. George’s Chapel is usually closed to visitors on Sundays as services are held throughout the day. Worshippers are welcome to attend the services.

  • St. George’s Chapel is closed to visitors on Sundays as services are held throughout the day.

  • As a working royal palace, the Castle is used frequently by The King for State ceremonies and official entertaining, and closures can occasionally occur at short notice.
  • During peak periods additional vehicles without Wi-Fi may be used.
  • Infants aged 0-2 can join this tour for free however they must sit on the lap of a parent/guardian. If you would like a seat for your infant, please purchase a child ticket. We do not provide car seats.
  • Cancellation Policy: Your tickets can be cancelled free of charge up to 72 hours before the tour date. No refunds are given for cancellations made within 72 hours
